So... this is sort of like my Javert piece, just a person from Les Miserables. It's Eponine Thenardier. I guess it's sort of from the musical more than the book- as this is her singing "On My Own."
And now I'm all alone again
Nowhere to go no one to turn to,
Without a home, without a friend,
Without a face to say hello to.
But now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here.
Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping
I think of him and then I'm happy
With the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
And I can live inside my head.
On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone, I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me.
In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me for ever and forever.
And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us.
I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone, the river's just a river
Without him the world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers.
I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life I've only been pretending
Without me his world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known!
I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own.
I'm using Prisma right now but when it scans it kinda fades and isn't as bright as it was originally...
Say I did a pic of Javert--it's over in my gallery if you wanna see it...

Well, on this specific picture I colored it digitally... but I recently got some Copic markers that I have yet to really draw something serious with. I've heard Prisma markers are really good as well. ^^
I know scanners can sometimes totally ruin a picture... but do you tweak anything in a program like Gimp or Photoshop after you scan it? That can really help. I usually bring up the file in Gimp and do some color/level adjustments which can help fix the problem of faded color.
As for your Javert picture- I think it's awesome!! I especially like the one with Javert and Erik... those are two amazing characters!!
I'd like to get Photoshop, but as for actually using it...eh, it'd probably take a long time just to learn the program. I just clicked 'fix' in Window Photo Gallery and tweaked the colors a bit to make them a little sharper and brighter.
Thanks for the comment!! You just made my day...what had happened with the picture is I drew Javert first, and then what usually happens is I doodle around the main picture and I was so proud of it that I scanned it before continuing. Then I added Erik and thought it looked pretty darn good that way

Well, actually I don't use Photoshop, I use an open source (meaning it's free) program called "The Gimp." It's almost identical to Photoshop in every way, I use it for all of the digital work that I do. ^^
Yha, I really like the combination of Javert and Erik, very interesting characters, doing a comic with them meeting would be really funny.... hmmm! Must think on that! Or I bet you could do a great one as well!
Well, I wasn't planning on doing a comic with them...not enough ideas, believe it or not, but I've been cluttering up my sketchbook with doodles of me bugging them...*rolls eyes* Javert mostly, he's so uptight that he's fun to bug.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
